Hey y’all I’m over half way through my race isn’t that crazy!!! Some big things happened this week. Our squad leaders are departing tomorrow. We got raised up squad leaders Lucas and Hannah Z. And then we also got new teams. But before I do the big reveal I have something to share.

When I first got to Costa Rica I prayed and asked God what he had for me while I was here. I felt like the word unity was given to me. And I was like cool, easy it’s all squad month it probably means unity within our squad. And then I shared with my team and before I got out what I thought about the word, they were like it’s probably unity within our team cause it’s our last month together…. and I was like huh good point maybe that’s it. Lastly I talked to our raised up leader and she was like maybe it’s unity between you, God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit and I was like that would be awesome cause I’ve heard slim to nothing since my baptism in Holy Spirit in  Guatemala besides this word unity.

So I restless with it and was like which one is it. Unity with squad, team, myself and God. But once I got to mini debrief I realized it was all the things. Why I was silly enough to put a limit on God? He is outside of time. He is outside of situation and circumstance.

So here is a snap shot of each unity in action.

My team although sporadic and you never know what you are gonna get, we thrived this last month. We confided in each other, we choose to sit by each other at dinner, we made intentional time for each other and actually agreed upon activity. Each member strongly reflected a different aspect of Jesus.

Amber what was hers was mine. She showed me how much fruit can bear when you water the whole tree just not a single branch. She was rock that I can always depend on and go to for anything.

Kristin you feel what I feel and make sure I never suffer alone. You have joy when I feel joy and egg me on. You make me believe I’m not a burden.

Hanna you only do things when heart is in the right place you never say things you don’t mean. When you’re walking with the spirit it is full send. You don’t hold anything back.

Annie you helped me see obedience is a result of love not a command. All things stem from love, respect, trust, and identity.

Our last night as a team here we are jumping for joy into the new changes.

Here is my new team. Our first day as a team we built a sandcastle to win a photo competition. But what we did after with the toys we bought was turned around and gave them to local kids on the beach. I think that just testifies to the fact that this team will leave kingdom in their wake.

I can’t wait to see the all the joy and growth that stems from this new team.

Okay now where does the squad come into play and me unified with Jesus, look like. Each team was given the task of coming up with new team names. I had fire in my head all day and after discussing with the team and praying we landed on fuego fresco. What we didn’t know and what is crazy is that the other team came up with the exact same name only in English: Fresh Fire! So if that isn’t a sign that I’m hearing from the Holy Spirit and our whole squad is unified through the Holy Spirit then I don’t know what is.

We have three more weeks in Costa then off to Colombia. In the mean time during mini debrief I have one more day to wake up and bask in God’s creation Jaco with sting rays and dolphins jumping.

  2. The one part of this blog that really stands out, and got me choked-up, was this….

” What we did after, with the toys we bought, was turn around and give them to local kids on the beach. I think that just testifies to the fact that this team will leave kingdom in their wake.”

Yes, Ellie, I can see that too. I am so proud of each one of you and I love the kigdom you have left in your wake!

  3. Dear Niece, I am so touched and have to process this more before I can even respond thoughtfully. For now, UNITY is beautiful, your connection with the holy TRINITY is undeniable, and your insight & growth is INSPIRING! God bless you & keep you as you continue on this adventure in Christ! I LOVE the new team name!
Sending love & hugs, Aunt Shari

  4. P.S. As always I love the photos you’ve shared! Praying for each & every member of your teams, past & present!

  5. Hello Ellie! Praying for you and your team today fuego frescon -fresh fire! I’m glad you and Steph are on the same team! I love how God is giving you discernment to see your friends hearts and encourage them with your words. This builds unity…the very word the Lord laid on your heart but in action! And then giving those toys to kids on the beach oh my goodness what a simple extravagant gift of fresh fire!!
