“We are more precious to God than diamonds and Gemstones“ -Samuel
Above is the winner of our Art competition.
I don’t think I can claim certified but I did teach 8-12 years olds in South Africa for two weeks. In Heildeberg we got to help out at the private christian school. For the first time in my life I feel like I taught by loving them as a person first and viewing them as a student second. Respect was earned out of love instead of demanded through fear. Myself and teammates got to fill in for multiple teachers due to COVID and moving situations but instead of feeling drained, we got to operate out of fullness. I feel like their is so much to say but no words will do it justice. So instead I am just going to show you their beautiful faces and precious smiles. You don’t have to look hard to see the love that is beaming inside of them. What a blessing it was to be their teacher, but more importantly what a blessing it was to be apart of their lives and love them and be loved by them.
We lead devotional and activities every morning and this one was about the amor of God.
Recess consisted of me playing dumpy( like a four square game) cops and roperos and open gates with the kids. They also bought me candy more than once.
We taught the kids volleyball, soccer, kickball, football, long jump, disc, javelin, and capture the flag. The students taught us net ball.

This teaching experience sounds like a gift from God, Sugar Plum! I am so pleased to read that you got to have all these shared experiences with your students. I have no doubt they love you very much! Yes, that love can be seen in their smiles. They’ll be thinking of you every time they play one of the new games you taught them. Only just yesterday I got to talk with a former third grader of mine who graduated high school in May and has started at MSU Denver. Brodie is studying aviation. Enjoyed our phone conversation very much! My favorite thing about being a retired teacher is reaping the reward of those relationships.
Love you so much, Aunt Shari
P.S. The young man’s artwork is a sweet reflection of God’s love at work in his life!
Love reading your stories and your love for Christ! Go girl!
Elizabeth:
Really like reading about how y’all are sharing your God given gifts with others along your journey, teaching, working, sharing your faith & experiences, instilling hope and demonstrating love to others…and “the greatest of these is love”. Each one of you are planting seeds along your journey enriching people’s lives in ways perhaps unrealized until we finally get to our Ultimate Home. I pray that God continues to direct your paths and strengthen you spiritually and physically. In closing, Thank You, to you and your team for giving to the Lord!!
Ellie, Thank you for sharing these tender aspects of how the Lord fullfilled a ministry need by placing each of you in positions that you “happened” to be qualified for! These taylor-made positions were also ideal in blessing you in return!
I love the genuine compassion you felt for these precious kids and the ease at which teaching them came. God is amazing!
This is one of my favorite testimonies.
Wow! Good for you, it must be so fulfilling to do that with the children. Glad your in a safer place. In my prayers everyday. Hugs, Marlene
